Beautiful Frame Painted in Cottage Door

First here is a peak of the gorgeous Cottage Collection colors!

The colors are so beautiful. My first project, I will be using Cottage Door. It is a lovely soft coral. It is not as bold and bright as Dixie Belle’s Flamingo Chalk Mineral Paint. I absolutely love both the Cottage Door and Flamingo.

I have been excited to try a few of these color out on a few projects around my home.

1. Supplies

Pristine Cleaner – to clean your item
Cottage Door Chalk Mineral Paint
Clear Coat in Satin
Gold Gilding Wax
Good Synthetic Paint Brushes – I use Dixie Belle 2 inch mini angle
Artist Paint Brush (optional)
Frog Tape

2. CLEAN

It is good to clean your surface before painting with Pristine Clean to remove the dust and grime. I use White Lightning Cleaner when if the piece has been stored for years and really dirty.

This piece has been in my craft room and needed Pristine Clean to make sure all of the dust was gone. It’s been sitting in the corner. This quality cleaner will de-grease and remove all debris from the surface of your piece.

3. Tape off

Tape of the edges of the chalk board with Frog Tape. It will help you not get paint on the black chalk board.

4. APPLYING THE CHALK MINERAL PAINT

The color is Dixie Belle Paint Company Chalk Mineral Paint in the new cottage collection is called Cottage Door. I love the coral color. When first applied it will look a little orange but dries to a soft coral.

You will need to apply two coats on the frame. Allow to dry in between the coats. No sanding was required. You could distress it after the second coat.

5. using Gold gilding Wax

To add a regal look to the ornate frame, use a dap of Gold Gilding Wax on the tip of your finger. You can spread it on the raised portion of the frame.

If you do not want to use your finger, try using an artist brush. I prefer the finger tip method. It’s easy to wash off with soap and water.

Have you tried Dixie Belle’s Scrubby Soap? Oh my goodness, it’s the best and smells amazing. What is a scrubby? It’s a bar of all natural soap with a scrubber inside that fills the entire size of the bar. They use no harsh synthetic cleaning agents. Each of the bars contain citrus oil. It is great at removing dirt, grease, oil and paint from your hands. And, it is wonderful to use to clean your artist brushes too.

6. Sealing

To protect the paint, you can apply one to two coats of the Dixie Belle Clear Coat in Satin. They also have matte and gloss finishes available. It is a matter of personal preference.

For this project, two coats of Clear Coat in Satin was applied. You will need to allow it to dry two hours between the coats.

Finished Project

How fun is this color Cottage Door. It goes perfectly in my craft room. This chalk board you can write on it or add magnetic containers for storage of buttons, beads, etc.

Cottage Door is a beautiful soft coral color. It goes with some many paint colors in Dixie Belle’s product line.
