I did a beautiful pumpkin makeover with Dixie Belle Paints. Why you may ask? It looks good as orange. Yes, but I wanted it to be neutral.
This pumpkin has been used in my home décor in the fall for many years. I was tired of the color and decided to use some of my Dixie Belle Paint products. I knew that with the right items it could be transformed easily into a neutral color pumpkin.

tutorial – Beautiful Pumpkin Makeover With Dixie Belle Paints
1. Clean the ceramic pumpkin
If you pumpkin has been in the garage, basement or found thrifting, you will need to give it a good cleaning. I like to wash the item with warm water and a little Dawn Dish Soap. Rinse the ceramic piece thoroughly to remove any soap residue. Let your pumpkin dry completely before applying the Slick Stick.
2. Applying Slick Stick
Dixie Belle’s Slick Stick is a bonding agent that will help paint adhere to glass, ceramic, metal and slick surfaces. You can even paint PVC, laminate and other slippery surfaces.

This step is very important, you must let the Slick Stick dry at least 2-3 hours before applying the second coat.
3. applying the second coat of slick stick
Apply the second and final coat of the Slick Stick. After the second coat you MUST ALLOW IT TO DRY FOR 24 HOURS before painting.

IF you rush this project, the paint will not properly adhere and will peel or crack.
4. Applying Terra Paint
What I love about Terra Paint, it is more of an artist paint. It is used for layering colors or if you want to build layers and paint a design.
I kept it simple with using one color Prairie Dawn. It is a buttery off white color. It’s a beautiful neutral color to use.

You will need to apply two coats of Terra paint over the Slick Stick painted area. Allow the first coat to dry at least 2 hours before applying the final coat.
After the second coat you MUST ALLOW IT TO DRY FOR 24 HOURS before using it as a vase. You will need to allow the paint to cure.
5. Applying a sealer

To protect the paint, you can apply one to two coats of the Dixie Belle Clear Coat in Satin. They also have matte and gloss finishes available. It is a matter of personal preference.
Allow it to dry two hours between the coats.
final Beautiful Pumpkin Makeover With Dixie Belle Paints

I love the results of this pumpkin makeover. The Terra Paint in the color Prairie Dawn is the perfect creamy white. A wonderful neutral color.

It works well with my fall decorations on my dining room buffet. And, it could be easily moved to any room of the house.

So remember not to over look those thrift store items or yard sale finds in the wrong color. You can always paint it!
