As the days are becoming warmer and the first buds begin to peek through the soil, I always feel a surge of energy to bring that same sense of renewal inside. Spring is the perfect time to shed the heavy layers of winter and invite a light, airy feel into every room. Today, I am sharing some of my favorite finds, spring home refresh tips, and simple strategies to help you transition your home for the season.

This year, I am particularly drawn to shades of blue. Blue is timeless, calming, and perfectly mimics the clear spring sky. From soft chambray and watery aqua to deep navy accents, soft sage greens with touches of blue bring an immediate sense of peace to a space.

If you are wondering how to coordinate with blues, look to nature. Soft greens, crisp whites, and warm sandy tones work beautifully together. For a bit of contrast, I love pairing blue with muted coral or pale yellow to make the room feel vibrant and cheerful.

One of the quickest ways to change the season inside is to swap out your textiles. It is time to put away the heavy wool blankets and velvet pillows.

  • Pillows and Throws: Replace dark, heavy fabrics with lightweight linens and cottons. Look for textures like seersucker or light knits in your chosen blue palette.
  • Curtains: If your windows are weighed down by heavy drapes, consider switching to sheer panels or light linen curtains. This allows more natural light to filter in, which instantly lifts the mood of a room.

The Power of Neutral Furniture

You might notice that many of my favorite spring finds pop best against a neutral background. This is why I always advocate for investing in neutral furniture. Large pieces like sofas and armchairs in cream, beige, or light gray act as a blank canvas.

When your foundation is neutral, you can change the entire look of your room just by swapping out accessories. If you are currently in the market for a new centerpiece for your living room, be sure to check out my previous post on how to choose the right sofa and fabric to ensure you find a piece you will love for years.

Shop Your Own Home

You do not always need to buy something new to create a spring home refresh. I love to “shop my own home” every spring. Try moving artwork from the bedroom to the entryway or shifting decorative vases and books between rooms.

Changing the placement of your favorite items can give you a whole new perspective on your decor. It encourages you to declutter and see your belongings in a new light without spending a dime.

A Fresh Coat of Paint

If you want a more dramatic change, consider a fresh coat of paint. Painting a room is one of the most transformative things you can do. A soft, pale blue or a warm white can make a dark room feel expansive and bright. Even painting an accent wall or a piece of old furniture can provide that “new home” feeling.

House plants offer benefits in your home. A plant on the kitchen island.

Refreshing your home should be joyful, not stressful for your budget. Here are a few spring home refresh tips:

  • Propagate Plants: Instead of buying expensive new plants, take cuttings from your existing houseplants to create new greenery for different rooms.
  • Thrift for Frames: Buy inexpensive frames on clearance and download free artwork, or shop at a local thrift store for frames and paint them a uniform color to create a cohesive gallery wall.
  • Use Natural Elements: Bring the outdoors in by foraging for branches or spring blooms from your yard to use as centerpieces.

Spring is all about new beginnings. By focusing on light colors, breathable fabrics, and a few clever swaps, you can create a sanctuary that feels as fresh as the garden outside.

Refreshing your home for spring is truly about creating a space that feels light, airy, and full of new life. Whether you decide to dive into a serene blue color palette, swap out heavy textiles for breathable linens, or simply move your favorite artwork to a new wall, the goal is to make your home a sanctuary for the season.

Remember that a beautiful home does not require a complete overhaul or a massive budget. Often, the most impactful changes come from small, intentional choices and a bit of creativity with what you already own. I hope these ideas inspire you to open the windows, let the sunshine in, and enjoy the beauty of a fresh start this spring.

Happy spring decorating, sweet friend!
