Glitter Ornaments: A DIY Christmas Craft Tutorial

Wait until you see how easy these glitter ornaments are to make with a few items.

1. Add Glitter Nail Polish

Carefully remove the silver cap from the ornament and set it aside to use later.

Pour 1/2 of a bottle of glitter nail polish into a clear plastic or glass ornament.

2. Shake

Shake the ornament vigorously to distribute the nail polish around the inside until it is well coated. You may need to add more nail polish inside to cover the entire inside surface of the ornament.

3. Add Fine Glitter

While the nail polish is still wet, generously sprinkle extra-fine glitter over the ornament. Shake vigorously to ensure complete coverage. Continue adding glitter until no clear spots remain. The final result should be an ornament fully coated in the color of the glitter.

Turn the ornament upside down and place it in a plastic cup. Let it sit for one hour. Once dry, clean any excess glitter around the opening and secure the silver cap. You can then hang the ornament using ribbon, silver rope twine, or a simple hook.

4. Bonus Ornament Project

Instead of glitter nail polish, use acrylic paint.

Fill the clear ornament with a generous amount of acrylic paint. Shake vigorously to distribute the paint evenly. For extra coverage, gently tap the sides of the ornament.

I’m going to start looking for some pink glitter and nail polish ASAP! Thanks so much for the easy to follow steps, Hugs, CoCo

    1. CoCo, I know right? I did make so beautiful deep pink ones too. It is so much fun playing around. You can get the nail polish for a dollar or less a bottle. The ornament will have a nail polish smell for a day or so then subsides. The acrylic paint ones have not smell really. Both options are fun and inexpensive.
