Supplies For DIY Stacked Pumpkin Craft Project

Tip: Don’t toss those real pumpkin stems! Dry them and repurpose them in fun DIY future craft projects.

Step-By-Step Tutorial
This easy project uses three faux pumpkins. Look for faux pumpkins that are 60-75% off. Mine were purchased on the weekend at our local Michaels for 60% off fall decor items.
Step 1. Prepare The Pumpkins

Remove faux stems from all but the top pumpkin.
Step 2. Stack The Pumpkins

Before gluing, try stacking the pumpkins to visualize the ideal spots for hot glue to secure them together. You can play around with different stacking arrangements until you find a pleasing composition.
Step 3. Apply Hot Glue

When the pumpkins were stacked, I noticed a gap in between. To fill the gap, you can use some Spanish Moss. Add some hot glue to the top of the faux pumpkin, and tuck some of the moss into the hole at the top.
Carefully apply hot glue to the bottom of the medium pumpkin and press in on the top of the larger pumpkin. Hold in place for 10-15 seconds to ensure a good bond.

Add hot glue around the pumpkin and push Spanish Moss to fill the gaps.

You can use a pencil, stick, or a screwdriver.

Repeat with the smaller pumpkin by applying hot glue to the bottom and pressing it to the top of the medium pumpkin. Hold for 10-15 seconds for it to bond together.
Step 4. Add a Real Pumpkin Stem

Replace the top pumpkin’s faux stem with a real dried one (if desired). If you are using a dried pumpkin stem, add a dollop of hot glue to the top center of the pumpkin. Push the pumpkin stem into the hot glue and hold for 20 seconds or until the hot glue cools. The stem should stand upright.
Add hot glue around the outside of the stem to place Spanish Moss on top.
Step 5. Customize Your DIY Stacked Pumpkin
Remember, you can customize your stacked pumpkin fall decor with seasonal ribbon, Spanish Moss, twine, grapevines, foliage, flowers, or other accessories.
Decoupage your stacked pumpkins with fall-themed napkins to add a personal touch. Choose a pattern or color that complements your home decor.
The Finished Project

From start to finish, this fun project took less than 10 minutes. This DIY Stacked Pumpkin can be placed indoors or on your covered porch.
I decided the stack was complete. The Spanish moss provided enough visual interest. Of course, you can decorate your DIY pumpkin stack however you like.

The dried pumpkin stem adds a special touch to make it look more realistic. You can create your stack using any size of faux pumpkin.
A vintage stool beside our bench cradled a stack of pumpkins. Spanish moss filled the gaps between them, adding a touch of texture.

What a great idea, Tammy!! Stacked pumpkins with faux ones is perfect for so many places…where do I begin? And I love the painting of those that I don’t care for the color. Great idea, too!
