Hello, sweet friends! Family and lots going on! Let us catch up today on Family – Sunday’s Life Among The Blooms No. 23.
Hope you have your cup of coffee or tea ready. Here on Sundays, I talk about random things going on over at White Lilac Farmhouse and things that stop me in my tracks.
WHAT’S HAPPENING AT WHITE LILAC FARMHOUSE
Sorry I am getting this post out late. It was a weekend filled with family stuff. Lots of things were going on with us.
We are so blessed to have an amazing family. It is a family filled with so much love.

What is the purpose of a family?
What is the purpose of a family? It is about a special bond that you share. A sense of belonging, security, and unconditional love. A family will look to see the best in you even if you cannot see it for yourself. It is about being respectful in discussions even if you disagree. Being there for one another during the wonderful times in life to be celebrated and during times of despair. Most importantly, my heart feels that family is about unconditional love, grace, and forgiveness.
Over the weekend, two of my children, son-in-law, grandchildren, and brother went to my parent’s house to spread mulch around their home. My husband always helps too but was sent home by my mother. He was not feeling well. Recovering from tick bite and on heavy duty antibiotics. I know it was arduous work, but my parents appreciated their family helping them as they are no longer able to do it (neither am I with this bum knee).
I love that the family comes together to help them. My parents are wonderful people and have so much love for their family.
Celebrating a new baby with family
A baby shower was held at a local park for my sweet niece Destiny. She is expecting a baby girl, Marley due in June. We are so thrilled that there will be a new baby in the family. It has been a while since there was a tiny baby.

I got to hang out with my beautiful daughter, mother, and aunt. We had a fun time joking around and talking about upcoming family events.

There is lots of great stuff happening from birthday parties, family reunions, graduations, and retirement. I have a significant birthday this summer. And, my sweet granddaughter, Madilyn was selected for a part in a musical that our county is putting on. She loves theater and has been taking acting classes. Some exciting times!
A little retail therapy is alway good for the soul!

I managed to work in a quick retail therapy to pop in a favorite store in Lancaster, PA, Calico Creek. Therapy was much needed on this quick trip. I found a couple of items to bring home with me.
Periodically, I get to Lancaster, PA for a client up there with work and stay over time to time. I will try to tie it in with family stuff as well.
My garden is blooming with flowers

Jim and I have been in this house for three years now. I cannot believe how my plants have grown. My roses bushes are in full bloom. The butterfly bush has doubled in size.
a place for family to gather
Lots have been accomplished in a brief period. We put a patio in the backyard. It is the perfect place that the family gathers outside.

Landscaping was done with lots of plants over the past three years.

A room for the family
A black aluminum fence was put in the backyard. I was hoping we would get an pool last year. However, my husband really does not want a pool and the upkeep of it.

The basement theater and storage rooms were completed. The best decision we made adds significant value to our home. We are waiting for two rows of theater seats for the room before the big reveal. I must say, we will use this room. Jim and I love it!

INSPIRATION FROM OTHERS

Look at this gorgeous semi-homemade Naked Cake that my sweet friend, Stacy at Bricks n’ Blooms. You can find out how to make it here. It would be perfect for your Mother’s Day celebration. How beautiful is this cake with beautiful editable flowers.

My friend, Kim of Perfecting Places has this wonderful post about styling coffee tables. I am a blue and green gal myself. She has such wonderful tips. You can read about it here.

My fellow Marylander and friend, Regina at Saved From Savage has this great post. It is about how she used some of her flea market finds for unusual containers for plants. I really enjoyed seeing all the items she used for her plants. Read her post here. Such great ideas!
Have a blessed day, sweet friends.

Thank you so much, Renae. I do have a wonderful family. It’s not without drama or issues like everyone else. However, 80% of the time it is awesome.

Tammy, how wonderful to be so close to your family, and to be a part of all of the celebrations. I come from a large family, my mom has 9 brothers and sisters but I haven’t lived close enough to be a part of all of the celebrations and I miss it.
Love your wreath! Off to check out your links.
Have a wonderful week.

Thank you so much, Elizabeth. So sorry you have missed being with family. I hear it is tough. My son, Zach hates missing family events being away.
