Below are items similar to mine. I found all of my items at Hobby Lobby for 40% off except for the truck. The truck was purchased off Amazon a year ago. I listed some that were more reasonable in price. Amazon has it for $34. That is too pricey for me. I paid a lot less than that price.
First, remove the ribbon from the heart. You can reuse this ribbon or use a different one.
Next paint your heart in pink or color of your choice. It will need two coats of paint. You will only need to paint the front of the heart.
The pack of hearts comes with two different sizes. For this project, two of the larger hearts were used and four of the smaller hearts with two decorative hearts. You can paint them in any color combination and layer.
The word “Welcome” is painted in black. Be sure to paint the sides too. It will make it pop against the heart.
My two sidekicks, Piper and Chibi love to hang out in the craft room. They are enjoying an afternoon nap on the sofa in the room.
2. Assembling The Valentine’s Day Door Sign
If your metal truck has hangers, you should remove it with pliers. It will help your truck lay flat against the heart.
Next add E6000 Industrial Strength Adhesive Glue to the back on the truck and the Welcome letters. The glue will become tacky within minutes.
Place the metal truck in position first. Then you can place the welcome under the truck.
Allow the the truck and welcome letter to dry overnight. This way it will have completely dried before you move on to finishing the project.
Add two large hearts in the background of the back of the truck. Now layer the smaller hearts to appear as they are in the back of the truck. You can use some moss to truck in between the hearts and truck to fill in the gap. This step is totally optional.
To finish it, tie a decorative Valentine’s ribbon for hanging.
I hung it on the door coming from the mudroom into the kitchen. The Valentine’s Day door sign is so versatile to place just about anywhere in the house.
The colors all pop against the white door. Next, I hung it on the bench in the mudroom. Love the pinks and reds against the green bench. I may need to decorate the bench for Valentine’s like in past years.
When you create something for your home, it makes it extra special. You can see this project was very easy to make like most of my projects.
