DIY Magazine Holder: Add Personality to a Boring Mesh Holder

Picture this: a cozy bedroom, a stack of inspiring magazines, and a little one eager to explore. To elevate this reading nook, let’s transform a simple mesh magazine holder into a stylish accessory. This easy DIY project is perfect for adding a touch of personality to any space.

A few years ago, I set up a spare bedroom for my little granddaughters. To make it extra cozy, I decided to add a wall-mounted magazine holder next to their bed. But why settle for plain when you can add a little sparkle? This easy DIY project will transform your ordinary magazine holder into a glamorous statement piece.

Wall Mounted DIY Magazine Holder Tutorial

Supplies:

• A Mesh Wall Mounted Magazine Holder.
• A hot glue gun and glue stick.
• A pair of scissors.

1. Add Ribbon

Start by visualizing your ribbon’s path. Stretch it across the holder, leaving extra length for flexibility. Now, weave the ribbon in and out of the holes, following your chosen pattern. For instance, you might weave every other hole or every third hole. Experiment to find the look you prefer!

Yes, a little glitter mishap is to be expected! But don’t worry, a quick wipe-down is all it takes. Check out the photo above to see the fun pattern I created.

When you have finished working the ribbon through the mesh, it’s time to get your hot glue gun. I always put down a piece of cardboard for the hot glue gun to rest on. It keeps the dripping glue on the cardboard and not my craft table. You will add a dot of hot glue to the corner and use a pencil or the tip of your scissor to push the ribbon against the glue and wire corner. You will repeat for the other side. Please be careful and do not use your finger to push the ribbon against the hot glue.

With your scissors, trim off any extra ribbon on both sides.

2. Add Embellishment

Next, add hot glue to areas of the rhinestone button where the glue will stick to the ribbon and wired mesh.

Place the rhinestone button in the center of your ribbon and press to wired mesh. Allow it to complete cool. It only takes a couple of minutes.

I love how this project turned out. A sweet wall mounted magazine holder. It’s any easy project that takes less than 15 minutes to do.

Other Ideas:

There are so many different ways, you can create a wall mounted DIY magazine holder for your bathroom, kids rooms, guest room, etc.

• Boy’s Room – Use navy ribbon and glue on a wooden train or baseball.
• Pretty seafoam green or aqua ribbon with a seashell.
• Spray paint the mesh holder gold or a color to match a room.
• Artificial Flowers – Cut the stems of artificial flowers to the desired length. Use hot glue to attach them to the magazine holder.
• Ribbon and Lace: Cut ribbons and lace into desired lengths. Use hot glue to attach them to the magazine holder, creating patterns or designs.
