How To Dress Up A Mesh Wall Mounted Magazine Holder

Decor

6 Oct

I have little granddaughters that love to look through decorating and cooking magazines. Now where do they get that from? We will all curl up together flipping through the pages for a couple of hours. I love when they find a recipe and tell me let’s make it. One of the spare bedrooms is set-up for the girls. I thought it would be great to do a wall mounted magazine holder next to their bed. Why not dress it up with a little bling for their room! It’s an easy DIY project.

Supplies:

  • A Mesh Wall Mounted Magazine Holder. You can purchase one through here.
  • 5/8″ Ribbon of your choice. I used a glitter mesh ribbon. Here is something similar or click here for this ribbon selection.
  • One 1″ or 1.5″ Rhinestone Button. You can purchase something similar through here.
  • A hot glue gun and glue stick.
  • A pair of scissors.

STEP 1

First determine where you would like your ribbon. Next, stretch your ribbon across the front of the Mesh Holder and pull enough ribbon to go side to side. Then, you should allow for some extra length. This way, you will have enough ribbon to work with as you weave between the holes and it will not be too tight. For mine, I dropped down six rows. I began weaving the ribbon in and out of every third hole.

Yes, the glitter ribbon does make a little bit of a mess. Honestly, it was not too bad. I wiped it clean with a damp paper towel when the project was completed.

In the photo above, you can see how the pattern I used.

STEP 2

When you have finished working the ribbon through the mesh, it’s time to get your hot glue gun. I always put down a piece of cardboard for the hot glue gun to rest on. It keeps the dripping glue on the cardboard and not my craft table. You will add a dot of hot glue to the corner and use a pencil or the tip of your scissor to push the ribbon against the glue and wire corner. You will repeat for the other side. Please be careful and do not use your finger to push the ribbon against the hot glue.

STEP 3

With your scissors, trim off any extra ribbon on both sides.

STEP 4

Next, add hot glue to areas of the rhinestone button where the glue will stick to the ribbon and wired mesh. Place the rhinestone button in the center of your ribbon and press to wired mesh. Allow it to complete cool. It only takes a couple of minutes.

STEP 5

Now your project is ready to hang on the wall. It’s any easy project that takes less than 15 minutes to do. For a boys room, you could use a navy blue ribbon and glue on a wooden train or baseball to it.

How about a pretty seafoam green ribbon with a sea shell. There are so many different ways, you can create a Mesh Wall Mounted Magazine Holder for your bathroom, kids rooms, guest room, etc.

Hope you give this project a try and be sure to let me know how it turned out.
