Life Among The Blooms Vol. 35

Life Among the Blooms Vol. 35 is a recap of the week and about random things going on over at White Lilac Farmhouse and a tip of the week.

It is a chance to get to know me a little better and see what I have been up to.

Knee two days after knee replacement surgery.

Two weeks ago, I had knee replacement surgery on my left leg. The right leg was done the end of June.

My recovery from this knee surgery did not go as smoothly as the first one. I had much more bruising and swelling. However, the worst part of it was by back.

The Sciatica nerve in my back was shooting pains into the leg. As a result, I have not been able to sit up for more than 10 minutes at a time.

The only relief is to lay flat on my back. It has been an extremely painful process of recovery.

I am disappointed because the first surgery, the recovery was amazing. This recovery has been slow and painful. It is why I have been MIA. It’s hard to type when you cannot sit up straight.

Things are improving! The knee is doing really well. The back pain is slowly tapering away with medication.

Knee being iced after PT to help the knee from swelling.

My favorite part of PT is having my knee iced at the end. They work me hard and this 10 minutes of icing is heaven. It feels so good and wish the machine could come home with me.

The surgeon indicated the healing looks wonderful from the x-rays. I should be good as new soon.

Thank you to everyone that has reached out with messages, cards and prayers. It has been very much appreciated.

Lazy Susan with items for creating a hot chocolate bar.

Every year, I enjoy making a hot chocolate bar for the grandchildren. My husband and I enjoy it as well.

There is nothing like sipping hot chocolate on a chilly evening or day. This year, I changed this up and using a Lazy Susan instead of a regular tray. It is perfect for turning and seeing all of the goodies.

Cannisters filled with marshmallows, peppermint candies for a hot chocolate station.

I used three canisters to fill up with hot chocolate mix, marshmallows and peppermint candies. A bowl holds candy spoons for stirring. Sprinkles for the little child in all of us to top off the marshmallows and whip cream. It is fun and festive!

If you are looking for a great recipe for homemade hot cocoa, is this post How To Make The Most Amazing Hot Cocoa.

I also have this wonderful post How to Create a Hot Chocolate Charcuterie Board. It is always a hit at a holiday party.

Where to find the goodies? I got you!

Coming Up Next Week

Lots of great things coming up next week. The first is a holiday home tour for 2023. There will be 30 blogging friends including myself that will be opening our homes to share our ideas for holiday decorating. The home tour begins on Monday and runs through Friday.

I enjoy seeing everyone homes and ideas for the holiday season. There is so much inspiration.

I have a couple of projects to share with my readers. A few fun projects that are child friendly too. If you are like me and little children or grandchildren, they will enjoy making these projects.

Small Business Saturday

Don’t forget that this weekend is Small Business Saturday. Your local merchants and online small businesses will be having sales. Try to shop small businesses when you have an opportunity.

So glad that we got caught up on what’s been happening here. I look forward to hearing from you.

Blessings to you and your family,

  1. Happy Healing! I have had both knees replaced from rheumatoid arthritis and it was the best gift to myself ever! Do therapy as you know and it will all be good. And I deal with lower back pain daily as you do so we become pain survivors and not victims of the pain! I wish you the very best good health in the very near future.

    1. Susi, thank you so much for your words of encouragement. I try to stay positive. It’s has been a tough one especially when you don’t like to be down for the count. I agree survivors and not victims. Thank you for commenting. I wanted to let my reads know why I took some time off to heal.
