The Lucketts Experience: More Than Just Shopping

For years, visiting the Lucketts Spring Market has been a cherished tradition. It began as a memorable ‘girls’ trip’ with my mother, often stretching into a long weekend from Thursday through Sunday. Our routine included leisurely antique and boutique shopping in Leesburg, indulging in facials and browsing at the delightful Rouge Spa & Boutique, and dedicating a few days to the market. We also loved discovering fantastic dinner spots and quick bites in Leesburg’s charming historic district. Over the years, we perfected the art of strategically packing the car to ensure all our treasures made it home intact.

My last two visits to the Lucketts Spring Market have been a mix of joy and bittersweet nostalgia. Two years ago, my mother suffered a series of mini-strokes, and her recovery has made walking on uneven ground quite challenging. Because of this, she can no longer join me at the vintage market. While I deeply miss our shared trips, I hold onto the beautiful memories we made exploring Lucketts Spring Market together.

The air practically hummed with anticipation, as excited chatter filled the line with people stretched as far as you can see for the Early Bird VIP admission on Friday for Lucketts’ annual Spring Market. People are friendly, and you will be surprised how far some travel to attend the vintage market. I met women who drove 17 hours from Arkansas to attend the Lucketts Spring Market. Women with their besties, family members, and husbands coming from Maryland, Virginia, Florida, Pennsylvania, New York, Tennessee, New Jersey, Rhode Island, etc. These are only a few locations from individuals that I chatted with while attending the market.

While you walk around, the air is filled with the smells of barn wood, herbs, flowers, and food being prepared. There are plenty of specialty food trucks with culinary delights at the market. You cannot pass up the homemade Apple Cider Donuts. These delicious donuts are made right before your eyes. There are plenty of places to grab a seat at picnic tables to enjoy your lunch or snack while listening to live music.

Amazing Vendors

The vendors are amazing, too! They love to chat with customers and help you with any purchases. Many vendors take pride in their booths and go the extra mile to wrap your purchase in pretty paper and ribbons. It’s those special touches that add to the whole shopping experience.

There was something for everyone. There were homemade soaps that smelled amazing, as well as outdoor items for your garden.

This year’s market was brimming with both indoor and outdoor plants. I particularly admired the striking outdoor annuals showcased in unique triangle planters, and many displays cleverly incorporated vintage wicker and wooden items.

That light-colored trunk stole my heart! If I’d been driving an SUV, that trunk would have found its way home with me as a coffee table for my family room.

This vendor’s booth had beautiful handmade jewelry and lots of plants. I took a few of the items home with me.

Lots of gorgeous furniture can be found at this spring market. I only captured a few items here.

The vendors always have creative ways of displaying their goods, and there is always so much to see everywhere you look.

Unearthing Treasures: Personal Finds and Highlights

My little powder blue VW Beetle was loaded with wonderful treasures. I brought home these white bird tins, displayed in the first photo. Wooden circles with carved butterflies, bees, and dragonflies made their way to my home. I snagged one of those initial necklaces. She was out of “T”, but took home a “G” for my last name initial. The vendor also made those pretty leather cuff bracelets.

Five topiaries made their way to my car, and this vintage ladder with buckets also came home. I plan to put outdoor annuals in the buckets and lean the ladder against the house or shed. The large topiary in the right photo is a curry plant; the more miniature topiary is a double-ball rosemary plant.

I struck gold at the vintage market this year! It took multiple trips to load my car with all my treasures, which included beautiful topiaries, unique outdoor items, a sizable vintage basket for my hutch, two new dresses, and some perfect pieces of artwork for the hallway.

It was a very successful shopping trip! I found some fantastic items for our home, and I love that large vintage basket.

Tips for Future Market-Goers

If you are planning to go to the 2026 Spring Market, you should plan ahead. The early bird tickets will go on sale on or about March 1, 2026. The tickets for early bird let you in on Friday at 8:30 am – 12:30 pm, and for Saturday and Sunday admission too. The General Admission on Friday at the regular price is 12:30 pm – 5 pm; Saturday and Sunday, 10 am – 5 pm. The location of the Spring Market is held at the Clarke County Fairgrounds, conveniently located just off Route 7 in Berryville, Virginia. The address is 890 W Main St, Berryville, VA 22611 — 10 miles East of Route 81, 25 miles West of Leesburg, and approximately one hour from Washington, DC.

There are hotels in Leesburg, Winchester, Berryville, etc. You are close to Shenandoah Valley. It is very picturesque. I highly recommend that you book your hotel in February or March. This event draws a lot of people, and hotels tend to fill fast.

Bring your collapsible wagons and wear comfortable shoes. If it has rained before the market, you will want to bring an extra pair of shoes in case yours get muddy. Depending on the weather leading up to the event, I always have my garden boots in the SUV or car. If you forget your wagon, no worries, you can rent a vintage wagon at the entrance.

A trip to Leesburg, VA, would not be complete without shopping at Lucketts Store. You can shop in the store and outside Lucketts, too. Love this horse topiary that has been covered with moss and succulents.

How darling is this aqua table made with an old door? I would love to make something like this for a potting table by my shed. You have to walk the grounds at Luckett’s Store to find some unique items for sale. There are various little buildings with treasures waiting to be taken home.

This junk car was used as a succulent garden. This sweet vintage white cabinet would look wonderful on a porch. Old frames are fun for projects. See what I did with an old window frame.

Lucketts Store is a treasure trove, filled with an exciting variety of vintage furniture and unique finds, alongside new furnishings, textiles, and stylish accessories. It’s safe to say I’m a repeat customer and never leave empty-handed.

No trip to Leesburg, VA, would be complete without stopping in and grabbing a freshly baked pie to take home to the hubby. A blackberry pie, still warm, went home for Jim to enjoy. My mother and I started a tradition when going to Leesburg. Our last stop would be at Mom’s to take home pies for the guys.

There are so many things to do in Leesburg. Here is a list of some of my favorite places:

Along the way, you will discover antiques, specialty shops, farmer markets, plants, etc. Every time I visit, there are new little shops and restaurants to discover!

Above are a few photos of how some of the items found at Lucketts have been styled in my home. All of the plants were transplanted into new pots. Here is a pot similar to mine.
