Sunday Breeze — Your Weekly White Lilac Farmhouse Recap

| | | |

Grab your favorite ceramic mug and fill it with something warm and comforting — welcome to Sunday Breeze, your weekly White Lilac Farmhouse recap of all the happenings here at White Lilac Farmhouse. I’m so glad you’re here. Happy Mother’s Day to my sweet friends!

Mother’s Day is a day I hold close to my heart, but I also know it can be deeply bittersweet for so many. Whether you are grieving the loss of a mother, a child, a dear friend, or a mother-in-law, I want you to know that your pain is seen and your love is honored today. Some of you may be longing for a child, feeling the ache of an estranged relationship, or simply missing someone who was your whole world. You are not forgotten.

Women pour love into this world in so many beautiful ways — as aunts, Godmothers, sisters, mentors, and yes, even as devoted mamas to our sweet furry babies. Motherhood and love are not defined by a single role or relationship. They are defined by the way you show up, give, and love others.

I may not know you personally, but I lifted you in my prayers today, asking for peace, comfort, and a gentle reminder that you are deeply loved.

My own heart carries a quiet tenderness for my husband on this day. He lost his mother to breast cancer more than 20 years ago, and while he lovingly celebrated with me, I know a part of him is always missing her, especially on Mother’s Day, her birthday, and during the holidays. She was the pillar of his family, and that kind of love never leaves you.

What’s New at White Lilac Farmhouse?

Here in beautiful Southern Maryland, we were blessed with a gorgeous sunny day in the mid-80s! Our pool officially opened on Friday, and while the water was a chilly 60 degrees, my husband and grandson decided that was no reason not to jump in — crazy doesn’t even begin to cover it!

A mother's day photo of three generations of women, grandmother, daughter and granddaughter.

We celebrated at home with a wonderful brunch surrounded by my parents, daughter, son-in-law, and my two precious grandchildren. And my son Zach, who lives out of state, melted my heart with a phone call and a beautiful bouquet of roses. It was exactly the kind of slow, sweet, and relaxing day that fills your soul, and I am so grateful.

What Blew In This Week — On the Blog

I rounded up the best affordable summer wreaths to help you freshen up your front door this season! The post features six beautiful picks — from vibrant floral arrangements with peonies, dahlias, and roses to whimsical designs with faux lemons and berries — with options to suit every style and budget. Whether you love soft, romantic pastels or bold, colorful statements, there’s a wreath on this list that will give your home a welcoming, seasonal look without breaking the bank!

Three summer wreaths in shades of blue, white, orange, pink and yellow.

Ditch the huge retail stores that are selling wreaths for $150-$250. These wreaths are more affordable than those with an enormous price tag. I treated myself to one. Stay tuned to see my selection soon. It will be spotted hanging on the front door.

What the Tide Brought In

Each week, I love shining a spotlight on the things that have made my everyday life a little brighter — whether that’s something beautiful, something practical, or just something that made me smile. These are personal picks I’m actively using and genuinely loving. No fluff, just real favorites — straight from my hands to yours.

  1. These beautiful Women’s Button-Down Dress Shirts With Solid Long Sleeves. It is soft, machine-washable, non-iron fabric that helps minimize wrinkles. Designed to maintain a smooth appearance throughout the day, reducing the hassle of ironing. It is available in a range of colors. I purchased it in light blue to wear for work and casual. It is true to size and has some stretch.
  2. I found this beautiful, sleek planter that looks like the Pottery Barn version. It is more than half the price of the PB ones that I own. I want to get one for our back patio.
  3. A Mother’s Day Gift to myself was this stunning 84-inch Wind Spinner for my garden by the pool. It’s a show stopper.
  4. My hairstylist introduced me to using this amazing hair product, Sexy Hair Style Play Dirty Dry Wax Spray. You can create long-lasting volume and body in your hair that lasts up to 48 Hours. It provides added texture, dimension, and separation to your hair.
  5. As a dog mom, I keep these hypoallergenic Pet Wipes for Dogs and Cats on hand. To wipe faces, ears, and bottoms. They come in handy and are safe for your pet.
