Sundays Life Among The Blooms Vol. 16

Good morning, sweet friends! Welcome to Sundays Life Among The Blooms! Hope you have your cup of coffee or tea for some inspiration.

Here on Sundays, I talk about random things going on over at White Lilac Farmhouse and things that stop me in my tracks.

WHAT’S HAPPENING AT WHITE LILAC FARMHOUSE

Multiple projects are going on here at White Lilac Farmhouse. I continue to declutter my home. What a chore!

“To truly cherish the things that are important to you, you must first discard those that have outlived their purpose. To throw away what you no longer need is neither wasteful nor shameful.” – Marie Kondo

In 2023, I am going to be more mindful in my purchases. For things to come into the house, items must leave. I have been doing a good job at repurposing items in my home. Mindful on finding a new home for other items that no longer spark joy. It may spark joy for someone else’s life.

Items have been donated to Goodwill too. These items can make someone else happy.

the house is blooming with new construction

We have two finished rooms in the basement. My craft room and a full bathroom.

When this home was built three-years ago, we pulled the “man cave” from being finished off. It was due to two factors: budget and doing it with more control over the layout.

Our home was a semi-custom build. With it comes limitations from the builder. We decided to wait and do it later.

This room is going to be a theater room. It will not be a fancy theater room. We tend to be more casual. It will have two rows of theater seating, surround sound and a very large television.

The plan is to have a wet bar in this space too. A perfect spot to hold snacks and beverages for a movie night.

My husband is big into sports. When this room is finished, I may not see him upstairs.

Here are some before photos of the basement before construction.

The space will have a large walk-in storage room. My goal is to get everything off the floor and onto the shelves. The only items on the floor should be the Christmas trees and the exercise equipment.

We will not finish off the storage/exercise room at this time. A project in the future or may leave it as is.

It only took 1-day for the workers to frame out the room. We are excited to see the progress.

This week, the electrical work and wiring for the surround sound should take place. Stay tune for more progress photos in the upcoming weeks.

    1. Thanks, Leslie. We are all pretty excited. I wanted a pool. Jim does not want to clean a pool or deal with it. A happy compromise for us both. I love movies.

  2. I love a good construction project! How fun to create a theatre room! It’s on my list for the dream home I may or may not ever build. Ha! In the meantime I’ve run out of house. 1. Thank you, Juliet. Today, there is lots of noise in the house. The electricians are here wiring. Yesterday, it was the sprinkler guys. Our homes all have indoor sprinklers in case of fire. I have surround sound going in on Friday. Next up is the inspection. Lots going on!
