Create a Whimsical Spring Tablescape
There’s something truly enchanting about spring. I love listening to the gentle chirping of birds and seeing the vibrant hues of emerging flowers. You realize that the promise of warmer days is right around the corner.
To capture this beauty, I am crafting a whimsical spring tablescape that brings the outdoors in. Picture a table adorned with various sizes of painted birdhouses, each a work of art, interspersed with the sunny brilliance of daffodils. Let’s create a dining experience that’s both festive and refreshingly natural.

SUPPLIES:
- 1 Large painted birdhouse (see link for tutorial below)
- 6 Small painted birdhouses (see link for tutorial below)
- 6 White napkins
- 6 Light Blue placemats
- 6 Daffodils (you can use tulips or hyacinths)
- 2 Ceramic planters
- 2 Terracotta medium pots (you can use any size from small to medium)
- 2 Grapevine wreaths
- A large rabbit statue or substitute with a vase with cut flowers in the center
- Choice of silverware, stemware, and plates
- Miniature dried flower wreaths (see link for tutorial below)

Using Flowers
Bringing the vibrant colors of real flowers into a spring table setting is an instant way to welcome the season indoors. Whether you choose potted blooms or freshly cut stems, the natural beauty will infuse your home with warmth and create an inviting atmosphere for family and friends.
Gather up some of your terracotta pots or a few ceramic pots to transform your dining table into a whimsical spring tablescape.

Spring flowering plants are available at most garden centers. These daffodils, which contain three to four bulbs, were purchased from our local Lowe’s for $2.99 per pot. Tulips and hyacinths were also available and a good alternative to daffodils.
You can also force bulbs before Easter. Read my post “Grow Spring Indoors: Easy Guide to Forcing Bulbs” to see how I used vintage containers with bulbs for the spring.

You should separate the bulbs to be replanted in various containers. This pretty, soft blue and white ceramic planter was found at my local Lowe’s. You can use a variety of containers of different sizes for your tablescape. Don’t be afraid to mix them with terracotta pots, vintage dishes, etc. Add a good potting soil, filling it 1/2 way from the top. Add your daffodils and fill in with dirt. The number of bulbs used will depend on the size of the container. The medium-sized container held 5-6 daffodils. Whereas, the smaller container held a couple.

It is good to give the newly planted daffodils a good soak of water with Miracle-Gro Indoor and Outdoor Plant Food. Follow the instructions on the bottle. Wipe any dirt from the edges of your containers with a damp paper towel soaked in water.
Setting The Table
This next step is always the fun part. Let’s create a beautiful, whimsical spring tablescape.

These scalloped quilted place mats are a lovely light blue, though it’s tricky to capture their true hue in this bright, natural light. While I adore the sun-drenched windows in my home, they do present a photography challenge!
Below are some of my favorite spring placemats, dishware, and napkins for spring. The beauty of these fabric placemats is that they can easily be spot cleaned and thrown into the washer and dryer.
Next, add your pretty spring dishes or pull out your white everyday stoneware to use.

I kept things simple by folding a white cloth napkin and neatly tucking the silverware inside. A miniature wreath with dried flowers was placed on top. It could be a keepsake for guests. You could tie a message around it.

Two 18″ grapevine wreaths are stacked in the center of the table. The cast iron rabbit will be placed in the center of the grapevine wreaths. A sage green ribbon was tied around the rabbit’s neck. He is holding a heart 6″ grapevine wreath covered with moss. Check out my tutorial Natural Heart Wreath (Grapevine, Moss, and Cotton Ribbon) to make one to dress up your rabbit.
Our spring tradition includes this delightful rabbit, discovered in a Pennsylvania vintage shop years ago. He’s become a treasured part of our seasonal decor, always sporting a new accessory. From last year’s playful wicker carrot to this season’s delicate moss heart, he adds a touch of whimsy to our home.

Another option is to fill the center of the grapevine wreaths with Easter Grass and place candy, faux eggs, or wrapped cookies or Homemade Peanut Butter Eggs.

Add the daffodil planters to the middle of the table. Sprinkle the colorful birdhouses in between the planters.

My goal was to inspire you to bring a little bit of spring’s magic indoors with this easy and fun tablescape.

It’s all about playing with color, texture, and a touch of springtime charm! Let these ideas inspire you to craft your own delightful setting, and remember, the most important ingredient is having fun! I hope you will use these ideas and add your own personal touch, creating a truly unique and joyful Easter, Mother’s Day Brunch, or a spring bridal tea.

Do, you definitely should bring some in. I will transplant mine outside for next year when they are done blooming inside.
