Life Among the Blooms Vol. 29 is a recap of the week and about random things going on over at White Lilac Farmhouse.
It’s a chance to get to know me a little better and see what I have been up to.
WHAT’S HAPPENING AT WHITE LILAC FARMHOUSE
A lot of things have been going on behind the scenes here. As my knee gets stronger, I am able to do more. I was back painting a table in my craft room. It should be finished this week.
The craft room project had to be put on hold due to knee replacement surgery. I did manage to replace the tv in this room with a 65″. Best Buy technicians delivered and hung it. The smaller 52″ television was put in the spare bedroom.

My goal is to have table and armoire in this room painted in the next couple of weeks. The armoire project requires that I remove the old back and replace it. It’s great storage for all of my paint and craft supplies. The armoire project will require a lot of work. I have some ideas for the inside of the cabinet. Stay tune for more in the upcoming month.
PHOTO SHOOT

I mentioned in my last newsletter that my friend Sandra Outt, Be Still Photography did a photo shoot for me. Her are a few shots from that session.

It was so hot the evening of the shoot. The temperature at almost 7 p.m. were still in the 90s.
My husband was in the field in front of me doing goofy things to make me laugh. Sandra and I had so much fun. It had been at least 3-years since having photos done.
Little Miss Chibi Turns One

This pint size ball of energy turned one last week. She is half the size of Piper and can how her own. She is the only little dog that I have owned that talks back at me. If I correct her, she sass mouth me back. That patch over the one I is fitting with her personality.
She is super sweet and loving. However, she cannot be trusted leaving the house with beautiful coffee table books out. I came home to find them chewed up. It’s hard to be mad at that sweet face because Chibi is very loving.
FAMILY STUFF
This weekend was pretty quiet. The previous weekend, we celebrated by significant birthday throughout the weekend.
Friday evening, my daughter and I went out for some Mexican food. We were later joined by my son, Zach who came into town for my birthday. Tyler had previous plans. These crazy guys were out golfing in temperatures in the high 90s.

I choose not to take a lot of photos this weekend. It was all about enjoying myself with my guest. Saturday evening, we had the neighbor friends over for dinner. Jim had the dinner catered. We played games and laughed. A perfect celebration.

Sunday, it was a family affair at Mama Lucia’s Italian Restaurant. If you have not guessed by now, Italian food is my favorite. We were joined by my children, parents, brothers, sister-in-law, one of my nieces and my bestie Colleen and her husband. It was a perfect birthday weekend.
Coastal decorations
One of my birthday gifts was this set of items to create a terrarium for air plants. My mother has some of these at her Maryland home and at the beach house. I have given her many compliments on her large one in their sunroom. She gave me items to make one for my home.

I love this driftwood with the glass bowl. She may have found it at the beach in one of the stores there. Next, I poured the faux beach glass into the bowl. It’s really glass pieces in gorgeous blues, aquas, green and clear. She always finds the best stuff.

Next, I began to add in the different air plants. I tucked the large one into between two oyster shells that I found at the beach in Point Lookout near us.
Then I tucked two of the smaller air plants into shells found at the beach on my trips. A starfish is the perfect companion to this arrangement. A sand dollar would be pretty too.

I love this arrangement so much. It’s sits in my bathroom on my vanity. It’s beautiful and soothing with all of the colors of the sea.
WHAT I AM Loving for fall
Fall is right around the corner! My sweet friend, Judy kicked started me on fall with two beautiful pumpkin pillows in blues and creams. She also gave me this lovely blue glass pumpkin. I have not styled my mantel for fall. However, I did not want to put these birthday gifts away either.

I am loving creams, blues and greens for the fall. Lots of texture and soft items for a cozy home. Don’t forget about your out door space. Fall is the perfect time for cozy outside bonfires.

Did you see this coastal artwork that I made with a sea fan? The full tutorial can be found Create An Affordable DIY Coastal Artwork -High End Dupe. Why pay a lot of money for art work when you can make your one.

I had fun using Dixie Belle Paint Company’s new color Cottage Door. It is part of their Cottage Collection. I updated this Beautiful Frame Painted in Cottage Door. The color is perfect for the bright colors that are being used in this room.

This is the color inspiration that I am using for my room. It’s being pulled from this pattern on my drapery and wallpaper for this craft room.
