Easter Bark Recipe
Prep time: 15 minutes | Setting time: 45 minutes

Ingredients
- 3 bags (12 oz High-quality white chocolate chips or vanilla candy melts
- 2 cups pretzel sticks (slightly crushed)
- 1 cup Pastel Easter M&Ms
- Optional: Wilton candy melts in a pastel color
Instructions
Prep the Surface: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. This is crucial, white chocolate sticks to everything else! This year, I made the mistake of using a 9 x 13 casserole dish. Learn from my mistake. You want to spread it on a baking sheet, so it’s not super thick. Doing it in the casserole dish made it thicker than I would have liked. My family will still love it!
Crush the Pretzels: In a medium-sized mixing bowl, crush about 2 cups of pretzel sticks. You are only lightly crushing the pretzel sticks into smaller bite-sized pieces.

Melt Carefully: You can melt your chocolate on the stove in a double boiler. It’s my preferred method. The other option is to melt your chocolate in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well in between. Stop when it’s mostly melted and stir until the residual heat finishes the job. I find this will take longer when you have three bags of chocolate to melt. I did use the microwave method to melt the pastel Wilton Candy Melts.

Add the crushed pretzels to the white chocolate and stir until well coated.

The Base: Spread the melted chocolate and pretzel mixture onto the parchment paper in a layer about ¼ inch thick.
Decorate: Quickly press M&Ms into the wet chocolate. Melt a handful of Wilton Candy Melts in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring each time.

Use a fork or spoon to drizzle the pastel-colored chocolate over the white chocolate mixture over the M&Ms. If you get an unwanted drip (blob), just add a few M&Ms. This candy bark is easy and very forgiving.

Set & Snap: Chill in the fridge until firm. Once solid, peel it off the paper and break it into large, irregular shards by hand.
Tips for Perfect Easter Bark
- Use quality chocolate. The better the white chocolate, the better the bark. Ghirardelli or Tollhouse chips melt beautifully.
- Work fast. Once the chocolate is spread, you have about 2–3 minutes to press in your toppings before it starts to set.
- Don’t skip the parchment paper. Foil or wax paper won’t give you a clean release.
- Store in the fridge. Easter bark keeps well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
How to Package Your Easter Candy Bark
Once your bark is set and snapped into those beautiful, jagged shards, it’s time to dress them up! Follow these simple steps to create a gift that looks like it came straight from a boutique candy shop.
This recipe makes enough bark for approximately 12 generous gift bags.
What You’ll Need
Pick up these supplies before you begin packaging:
- 12 clear gusseted cellophane bags (the flat bottom lets them stand upright on a table — look for 4″×2″×8″ size)
- 3–4 yards of ribbon (grosgrain, in pastel lavender, yellow, blue, pink, or mint); or 3–4 yards of thin twine or string (baker’s twine or jute in white or natural)
- Optional:
- 12 small sprigs of baby’s breath or tiny silk flowers for the finishing flourish
- 12 printed gift tags printed on heavy cardstock (65 lb or higher) for the best feel and durability
- 1 standard hole punch (a corner-rounder punch is a fun bonus for the tags!)

Step-by-Step Assembly:
- Placement: Slide 3–4 pieces of bark into your cellophane bag. Pick your prettiest, most colorful piece and place it right against the front of the bag. It’s the first thing people will see, and it makes the whole package pop.
- Prep the Tags: Cut out your printable tags. Use a hole punch in the top center, or punch the corner for a tilted, whimsical look. For a polished finish, run the edges through a corner-rounder punch.
- The Double-Tie Technique: Gather the top of the bag and pinch it tight. First, tie your ribbon into a classic bow. Then thread your twine through the gift tag hole and tie it over the center of the first bow. The layering adds texture and gives the packaging a high-end, boutique feel.
- Finishing Touches: Gently pull the edges of the cellophane at the very top to ‘fluff’ it out above the ribbon. Tuck a small sprig of baby’s breath or a tiny silk flower into the knot for an extra-special finishing touch.
